How to talk to your TCKs about Racism
"They're Not Too Young To Talk About Race" is a great infographic about children's development and racial awareness, which includes a list of informative articles and blogs for training yourself, from The Children's Community School.
@curious.parenting is an AMAZING Instagram account that has really tangible prompts and language to navigate genuine and empowering conversations or environments with kids (even babies!).
Stamped is a book explaining racism and how to be an antiracist rewritten for young adult readers. I started it this week and it's awesome! Easy to read but so informative and real. Highly recommend reading together with your teens!!
The EveryMom has curated a list of children's books that celebrate diversity–so good for TCKs who are moving to or call multiple cultures "home."
An IGTV called "What's the conversation for Non-Black POC and mixed race folk?" by Sonya Renee Taylor (an expat living in NZ) explains the global implications and realities of white supremacy and race based hierarchy. Suggested contribution is $3 per video–@sonyareneetaylor on Venmo!
Antiracist Baby is a brand new board book by Ibram X Kendi that teaches that it's never too young to start having important conversations with your kiddos–and provides the language to do so!
"How to Talk to Your Kids About Race" by Ayana Gabrielle Lage and Meaza Morrison, EDD offers good points and insights on age-appropriate conversations.
